Pare Corporation provided site design, permitting, and construction services for the development of a $1.2 billion, 500,000-SF cell culture manufacturing facility for Amgen. The plant houses nine 20,000-liter bioreactors, quality control and storage facilities, a new 220,000-SF administration building, and structured and surface parking facilities for up to 1,500 vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initial project included traffic studies, off-site improvements to an adjacent roadway and intersection, sanitary sewer upgrades, water distribution design including design of a water booster pump station, drainage and underground utility design, design of retaining walls with a maximum height of 31 vertical feet, design of an on-site recreational walking trail and athletic courts, site and drainage design for a multi-level parking garage, and surface parking design to provide 620 permanent and 1,600+ temporary parking spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During construction, off-site parking was needed to accommodate Amgen employees and contractors. For the design of a 1,600-space temporary parking lot in a nearby state-owned management area, Pare performed a traffic impact analysis study; grading, drainage, and water utility infrastructure plans; and parking lot and entryway layouts. After construction of the plant was complete, the entire parking lot was demolished and the site was restored to its natural state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
