Pare designed approximately 7,000 feet of new 12-inch PVC gravity sewer on Greenville Avenue in Johnston, RI to extend the Narragansett Bay Commission\u2019s sewer interceptor system outside the perimeter of their current service area to serve the new Citizens Bank corporate campus and local residents. Pare completed a feasibility study early in the process to evaluate gravity and pumped flow options. Ultimately a gravity flow option was selected to facility easier future connections, greater flexibility for expansion, and ease of future maintenance. However, the gravity option was not without significant challenges. There was significant subsurface rock along the alignment and some areas of new sewer required greater than 20 feet of open cutting. Pare worked closely with NBC and the contractor to identify, quantify, and manage rock removal from the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pare also coordinated closely with the Providence Water Supply Board and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation. Because the new sewer would impact existing water supply, Pare designed approximately 9,000 feet of water main replacement.
