Pare Corporation was a member of the architectural design team selected by the University of Rhode Island to design the new Richard E. Beaupre Center for Chemical and Forensic Sciences. The final design resulted in a $68 million, 134,623-SF four-story building having two floors dedicated to teaching, two floors to research, a penthouse, and a partial basement for mechanical infrastructure. The facility includes a cutting-edge A\/V system, a 240-seat lecture hall and a 95-seat lecture hall, 14 teaching labs, and 18 faculty research labs, each outfitted with a projecting demonstration fume hood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new facility tripled the amount of space for teaching labs and nearly doubled the space for research labs with state-of-the-art facilities. The facility also hosts the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Center of Excellence for Explosives Detection, Mitigation and Response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pare’s scope of services included a site review of existing conditions, research of existing utilities, wetland delineation, geotechnical investigations, full site\/civil design services, construction documents, and RIDEM freshwater wetland permitting. The project also required utility upgrades, a comprehensive stormwater management system, and landscaping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
