We are happy to announce that we were a proud member of the team that won the recent Environmental Business Council of New England Inc. 2022 EBEE Award for “Climate Change Project of the Year!” Working for the City of Boston Parks & Recreation Department, Pare’s innovative waterfront bulkhead design for Langone Park and Puopolo Playground Renewal provides additional load capacity for the new park elements while adding resiliency features to address climate change and sea level rise. Pare’s ‘Bubber’ Hutto joined city representatives and the full design and construction team to accept the award.

We’re proud to say that two of our projects won ACEC-RI Engineering Excellence Awards in the “Projects less than $10 Million” category. The first is Macomber Stadium (Central Falls, RI) with a 1st Place Golden Anchor Award. Working with our partners Stantec and Horsley Witten Group, Inc., the team transformed a contaminated, underutilized athletic field into a beautiful new stadium that features a variety of green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) elements and new synthetic turf fields. The GSI elements collect runoff from a 10-acre catchment area and reduce flows to the Narragansett Bay Commission’s Phase III CSO program.

Pare’s second ACEC-RI Engineering Excellence Award project was Old Tower Hill Road (Wakefield, RI), which won a 2nd Place Blue Ribbon Hope Award. Using ‘Complete Streets’ elements, Pare’s design significantly improved the circulation and safety of vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians in this busy commercial district. The stormwater treatment design, which includes 18 bioretention curb inlet planters, provides a low-impact development technique for treatment and infiltration at the source within limited right-of-way conditions, while beautifying a business district with much desired landscaping. The project also won a 2022 Stormy Award from the New England Water Works Association!
